Cheque Presentation
Ceremony for the
Donation by
Dr. and Mrs. Hari N. Harilela

In recognition of their recent
donation in the amount of HK$5 million, Dr. Hari N. Harilela, GBS, OBE, JP,
Chairman of the Harilela Group; and Mrs. Padma Harilela, a cheque presentation ceremony
was held on 26 February 2008 at the Academic Community Hall in honour of their
generosity. Officiating at the ceremony were Mr. Wilfred Y. W.
Wong, SBS, JP, Council and Court Chairman; and Professor Ng Ching-Fai, GBS, President
and Vice-Chancellor.
The donation of HK$ 5 million is
designated for the establishment of the ˇ§Padma & Hari Harilela Scholarship Fund
for Outstanding Studentsˇ¨. It is a great encouragement to our constant efforts
to instill the benefits of whole person education in all students.
During the ceremony, Mr. Wilfred
Wong and President C F Ng presented a souvenir to Dr. and Mrs. Hari N. Harilela,
on behalf of this Institution, to acknowledge their ardent support to the
University.
The highlight of the ceremony was
the address given by Dr. Hari N. Harilela, who shared his inspiring
ideas on leadership. The ceremony was well-attended by several hundreds guests
including friends of the Harilela Group, supporters of HKBU, Council and Court
members, as well as staff and students.
