Cheque Presentation Ceremony for Donation by
the Tin Ka Ping Foundation

The University recently received a
grant of HK$3 million from the Tin Ka Ping Foundation. This donation was joined
by HK$3 million received
under the University Grants Committeeˇ¦s Fourth Matching Grant Scheme, meaning
that HK$6 million is now designated for the establishment of the Tin Ka Ping
Education Foundation.
The Fund will be used to support
the Tin Ka Ping Foundation ˇV HKBU Mainland China Visiting Scholar Programme,
which will subsidise visiting scholars from the Mainland each year. The
programme will foster closer ties between HKBU and tertiary institutions on the
Mainland and facilitate academic exchange between Hong Kong and the Mainland,
elevating quality teaching and research to a higher plateau.
In appreciation of the Tin Ka Ping
Foundationˇ¦s generous support, a Cheque Presentation Ceremony was held on 29
April 2008 at the Dr. Wu Yee
Sun Lecture Theatre (Room 209) of Lam Woo International Conference Centre.
Officiating at the Ceremony were Dr. Tin Ka Ping, Chairman of the Tin Ka Ping
Foundation and Professor Ng Ching-Fai, President and Vice-Chancellor.
Addressing the Ceremony, Professor
Ng Ching-Fai extended his heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Tin Ka Ping. A
well-respected philanthropist, Dr. Tin has supported the advancement of
education in Hong Kong and the Mainland for many years.
The Ceremony attracted many guests,
including friends of Tin Ka Ping Foundation, supporters of HKBU, Council & Court
members, staff and students. Also present at the Ceremony were Ir. Peter K K
Wong, JP; Mr. Brandon Liu, JP;
Mr. Cheng Sing Yip;
Mr. Tai Hay Lap, BBS JP; and Ms. Sun Fong Chung, BBS MBE JP.
