To celebrate
the conferment of honorary doctoral degrees, the University has organised a
series of activities entitled "Brilliance of Civilization" to let the honorary
doctors share their wisdom with the University community and the general
public. In this connection, Dr. Mochtar Riady, Honorary Doctor of Business
Administration, delivered his speech on “Global Financial Crisis and Future
Development Strategies” with his focus on the role of Nano-Technology in future
energies in a Sharing Session with business students on 12 November 2009. During
the Sharing Session, Dr. Riady shared his insights about how to turn crises into
opportunities and the significance of the development of nano-technology
nowadays.
In his address, Professor Ng Ching-Fai, President and Vice-Chancellor, expressed his heartfelt
gratitude to Dr. Riady for the contributions that he had made towards the
University. Professor Ng also thanked Dr. Riady for his enthusiasm in bringing in his stimulating insights and sharing his
valuable life experience with members of the University Community and supporters
of the University.
The Sharing Session was a great success and well received by the participants
including the Consul-General of the Republic of
Indonesia, community leaders, friends of the Lippo Group and members of the
University community. To express
our sincere appreciation, Professor Ng presented a souvenir to Dr. Riady for
his inspiring and meaningful sharing.
